Newton Firefighter Kevin P. Kelly who served at Sta. 7 Ladder 2 Group 3 on Elliot St. in Newton Upper Falls died suddenly May 30, 2009 at his home. He was 54. 
Kevin was raised in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1972 and entered the US Army serving with the 82nd Airborne. He later graduated from Framingham State College and was appointed to the Newton Fire Department on March 24, 1985 and was a member of Newton Firefighters Local 863. 
He is survived by his former wife Patricia Melnick and his twins Sean and Shaylah Melnick Kelly all of Newton, his mother Marilyn Deerfield of Naples FL, his sister Kathleen Kelly of Barnstable and his niece and nephew Derek and Kelly Linnens. He was the step son of the late Alan Deerfield, brother of the late Paula Kelly.
